Jiri to Jiri

Jiri to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar is a highly praised trekking route recognised for being the route that two the legendary mountaineers  Sir Edmund Hillary and Mr. Tenzing Nogey Sherpa took on their successful Mt. Everest expedition in 1953. The trek in takes you right to the heart of the Himalaya, with stunning views along the way before an up close and personal meeting with the highest of them all. The route passes through alpine forests, glacial rivers, beautiful valleys and all amongst stunningly beautiful people, who are so friendly, warm and hospitable. Visit the many Buddhist monasteries, whilst all the time immersing within what is a simple yet extremely rich way of life.

The journey from Kathmandu starts with a eight hour scenic drive from Kathmandu to Jiri. The following morning we commence trekking, the journey up to Lukla is far less trekked than from Lukla onwards as most people visiting Everest fly in to the airstrip there. The trail passes through numerous villages of different ethnic groups including Tamang, Jirel, Rai, Brahmin, Chettri and of course the Sherpa’s. The trek is quite a cxhallenge but also very rewarding.
